The Royal Artillery Museum is a registered charity which was created to care for and display the Royal Artillery collection.

Major General Nick Eeles is the Chairman of the Royal Artillery Museum board and oversees the work of the charity alongside a volunteer Board of Trustees. Our Trustees have a wide range of experience, including museums, heritage, tourism, marketing and business. They are supported by a small team of staff and volunteers.

The Royal Artillery Museum manages the collection on behalf of the Royal Artillery Historical Trust.

Major General Nick Eeles
Major General Nick Eeles CBE
Chairman

 

Nick Eeles held a succession of senior Army appointments including General Officer Commanding Scotland and Director Royal Artillery (the last person to hold that post), having previously served as Commanding Officer of 26th Regiment RA.

Nick has been Chairman of the Royal Artillery Museum since 2016, and also chairs our Development Committee and Collections Management Committee, having previously been Chair of Trustees of the Royal Artillery Historical Trust.

Lieutenant Colonel Ben Baldwinson
Trustee

Lieutenant Colonel Ben BaldwinsonBen Baldwinson joined the Royal Artillery in 2004. Following operational experience in Cyprus, Afghanistan and Estonia, he undertook a number of staff roles as well as a period as an Instructor at Sandhurst. In 2022 he returned to Regimental duties as Commanding Officer of 19th Regiment RA.

James Barnes
Trustee

James Barnes is a commercial real estate solicitor, and until 2016 was a Partner at Herbert Smith where he specialised in structured investment, development, infrastructure and property finance. He has worked on many major projects, including the Design Museum, Stratford Olympic Facilities, Tate Modern and the Channel Tunnel Rail Link.

Graham Beal
Deputy Chairman

Graham Beal is a Partner in Ernst & Young's Lead Advisory practice, and has 25 years of experience of working on the interface between public and private businesses and of complex procurement, finance raising and outsourcing. He has worked on a number of MOD projects including development of Corsham and RAF Northolt, Search and Rescue Helicopter procurement and the £1bn Future Provision of Marine Services project.

Graham is Deputy Chairman of RAM and also the Chair of our Finance and Risk Committee.

Peter Carson
Trustee

Peter Carson is House and Events Manager at Englefield Estate, managing a range of commercial activities across the historic house, gardens and wider estate. His extensive experience of heritage and attractions management includes 10 years as General Manager of Stonehenge and a period working internationally for Tussaud’s Group.

Peter is a member of our Development Committee.

Lieutenant Colonel Tom Foss-Smith
Trustee

Tom Foss-Smith joined the Royal Artillery in 1998, gaining operational experience in Iraq, Cyprus and Afghanistan. His staff roles at Army Headquarters initially focussed on artillery capability development, and he is now the Army lead for the Boxer Armoured Personnel Carrier.

Tom was formerly the Chair of Trustees of the Royal Artillery Historical Trust.
