Gunner Magazine
This is a copy of the very first issue of The Gunner, the official magazine of the Royal Artillery, published in April 1919. It marked the beginning of over a century of continuous publication, serving as a vital link between members of the Regiment.
Since its inception, The Gunner has kept serving and former members informed on a wide range of Regimental matters — from deployments and training exercises to sporting and social events, alongside historical articles and records of medals, decorations, and other awards.
The Royal Artillery Museum library holds copies of almost every issue published since 1919. Together, they form a rich and invaluable historical archive, offering insights into both specific military events and broader social change within the Regiment over the last century.
Today, Gunner magazine is published bi-monthly and operates as a charity, with the aim of promoting military efficiency, and supporting the esprit de corps and well-being of all members and former members of the Royal Regiment of Artillery through the publication of content relevant to the whole Regimental family.
